Is Network Marketing As Sexy As Other Businesses?

Have you ever heard someone say that network marketing is not as sexy as other business types? I’ve heard people list off things like affiliate marketing, drop shipping, Shopify, Etsy, e-commerce, high-ticket sales, etc.
But there is one aspect of what we do that makes network marketing the sexiest industry I know of… and today I’ll prove it to you.
What Are Prospects Saying About Network Marketing?
I recently surveyed a team of reps that I’m working with and I asked them to tell me what objections they get from real leads- people they are talking to about network marketing.
Someone’s prospect had the perception that the network marketing business model is not as “sexy” as other models such as affiliate marketing, drop shipping, Etsy, Shopify, e-commerce, high ticket sales, and so on.
I found that objection interesting because as soon as I read it, I immediately thought about my wife and our family and the life we have created together. Here are a few examples that will help me with this point.
Are Wool Sweaters Sexy?
My wife is from Florida and she arrived up here in the mountains, where we have snow she wanted to wear the same attire for this new climate.
Many times I suggested that she look into some clothing with wool and she would always say, “But Babe, it’s so boring. Wool is so boring. I don’t want to wear it.”

Finally, I got her to try some wool clothing and she was like, “Oh my gosh! I had no idea the difference!” The wool fabrics kept her so much warmer compared to other fabrics.
How We Designed Our Ideal Lifestyle
Another example is when we started talking about a home birth. We started having that conversation 10 years ago, and that was a really crazy idea, but now, we wouldn’t think about it any other way.

My wife had a tiny bit of network marketing experience, but as we were starting our family we had to have some discussions about what we were going to do and what we wanted to have.

I wanted to be with her all of the time. I didn’t want to kiss her in the morning and in the evening and us not see each other all day. I didn’t want a lifestyle where the only times we could interact with one another was a few hours in the morning or evening. It just didn’t make sense to me, so we talked a lot about the lifestyle we wanted. We decided that we wanted a beach life and a farm life, and so we have a home in Florida and a home in Utah.
We also talked about what kinds of parents we want to be and the lifestyle we want to have in raising our family. We wanted to be able to stay at home and still produce and earn money.

Like, when one of our kids didn’t feel well, it really hit us about how important it would be to have the option to be at home. We couldn’t imagine his feelings if he was shoved off to a babysitter. We also created the studio at home and other things so that we could fully do our work from home and still live the lifestyle we wanted.
And, the other one I want to mention is that dad’s home too. In the afternoon I can go out and put my feet in the creek with them, and it just tickles the boys to death.

Or, when one of the boys finally decided that today was the day, the hour, that the training wheels were coming off and he was going to ride his bike for real, I could be there for that moment and teach him on the soft grass, just in case he falls.
All of these things around this lifestyle were really important to us when we were comparing various different business models and designing what we wanted in life and for our family.
You might say that other entrepreneurial business models like affiliate marketing or drop shopping could create a similar lifestyle – but there’s one thing that network marketing has that these other models do not offer.
Exponential Residual Income
The one thing that network marketing has that other models do not have is exponential residual income, and this concept alone is what makes this business model the sexiest industry I know of.
Let me explain. The average Instagram account has 150 followers. Yours might be a little less, might be a little more, but the average is 150 followers.
Some people promote a little, some a little more, some people go all out.

Mathematically, you’re more likely to find those who go “all out” in the depth. Now, what am I talking about here? Let’s say you have 150 followers, and each of those have 150, then that’s going to be 22,500 on the second level.
And if each of those have 150, that’s 3.3 million on level three. Mathematically speaking, you’re far more likely to find people who are going to go all out and really do the Pipeline.
(And if you haven’t heard of the Pipeline, you can look at any of my other videos. In most of them, I talk about the pipeline.)
From this you can also see that in a way, social media channels built their communities in a way that network marketing model has always been operating.
Social Media and Viral Marketing
Think about how many people Mark Zuckerberg personally got onto Facebook. Did he grow Facebook all on his own? Compare that to friends who got their friends, who then got their friends to get onto Facebook.
That is the reason that social channels like Facebook have become such a superpower. It’s not because they are a superpower, it’s because of that exponential factor of friends or colleagues or new people that you meet and connect with.
There’ve been many times where I’ve met someone new and they say, “Hey, are you on Facebook?” Within minutes, they friend me and then now they are within my network.
I’m just going to run a little scenario by you and give you an idea.
Exponential Income Growth – Example
Let’s say I’m going to earn a dollar on the people that I know. What I’m also going to apply to this is that only 5% of the 150 are going to buy; that’s a warm market scenario. And so that means that I would make $7.50 on level one.

On the next level, there are 22,500 people, and so when they promote it to their 150 and so on, (and let’s say that the compensation plan goes lower and I’m only going to earn $0.50 on level two), 22,500 x 5% warm market people equals 1,123 people who buy something, so I’m going to make $562 on level two.
And on the third level, you can see that if I only make 25 cents, which is half of the second level, then I’d make $42,000 on that third level!
Keep in mind, in network marketing, I also make a commission on every repurchase of any of those items.
I hope that now you can understand.
No Other Business Model Has This
I think that this is a factor that no other business model really has. When you look at people who are social influencers and they promote to their followers, the influencers are only compensated one time, on the initial sale. They are not compensated on future sales if the customer buys the product again in the future.
But in network marketing, we can utilize our networks to meet and connect with people. We get customers, and as long as we serve that customer well, we make repeat commissions on those customers. That’s where the exponential factor comes into play. No other business model offers what network marketing offers.
As far as I’m concerned, it’s quite incredible.
