Making the Time for Your Business

The #1 excuse people make is “I don’t have time”… and in this video, we’re talking about MAKING TIME for your business.

If you’ve been following along, you know that I’ve been talking about the Bridge to the Pipeline, and that the Pipeline is how all businesses get customers and get employees and so forth.

As I’ve been going through these steps, recently I’ve been going back and forth on the step of “carve out the space in your life to do the business,” and “make the time for it.” Today, I’m going to be talking about making the time for your business.

The Purpose of Making the Time

Let’s make some time for your business.

  • You wrote your new vision and your plan to get that vision.
  • Then you did the seven-day reveal that revealed your true identity and exposed the enemies (identities and actions) of your new vision and plan.
  • They are enemies because they are in conflict with who you want to be. Factually, parts of the old you are now enemies to the desired new you (“frenemies”).

You have to watch the chess video that I did that has to do with how you play a game with yourself. It’s very interesting. If you ever played a game, whether it be checkers or chess or anything like that, by yourself and you played both sides, you’ll see how you manipulate one side to win. We do this all the time in life.

  • The purpose of make the time is remove all enemies to your new vision, and replace that opened space with actions that do attain your vision.

This last point is unique. I went over the first three points previously. This is how we do it.

Old activities are comfortable. They’ve been grooved in for a long time. You don’t have to change anymore, and it’s sweet.

New activities are uncomfortable, but get you what you really want.

That’s why it feels like a tug-of-war. That’s the resistance to change.

Yes, the actions must change. Also, who the person is being must change. (I’ve talked about that in past episodes about identities

Each Action Reveals Identity (Friend or Foe)

The old you is pulling towards comfort, and history.

The new you is pulling towards vision, and future.

That’s the way you’re going to be able to really understand it when I talk about carving out space to make time. This is a tug-of-war that’s going to be going on.

This old identity of yours is pulling backwards. Not all of it, but some of it is pulling you back. This new you is the desired state you have, and is pulling you forward.

There’s a tug-of-war going on. The result is going to be as simple as which side wins. Who is going to decide that? The old you or the new you? That’s the simplicity of it.

For example, the seven-day reveal shows I’m eating crappy food and not exercising.

Who is choosing to eat crappy food?

I am.

The new me, or the old me?

That’s what you have to look at.

Who’s not exercising? The ideal me, or the current state?

Yes, actions need to change, but also who I’m being has to change. Actions are done/not done by an individual. The identity of the individual must change, then actions will change.

Who Is the Identity?

Now I’m going to start giving these identities names. I don’t want you to use my names because it’s your identity on both sides. I’m going to give you some of the names that I’ve used.

Who is choosing to eat crappy food and not exercise? The lazy, unmotivated, don’t care identity. That’s the identity that would do such a thing of not exercising and choosing crappy foods.

That’s the thing I want you to be able to picture, because as you advance, and you really get this, you’re off to the races. Nobody can stop you. Not even the old you. If you get this the way that I hope you get it, then it’s extremely powerful. It’ll set you free.

Food is not the enemy. Who I was being was the biggest enemy to my vision of a healthy and fit body. Carve out the crappy foods, replace the healthy foods, carve out the time, drive in the exercise. That’s what has to happen.

Business Example

I did the seven-day reveal. I have written my goals. When I did the seven-day reveal, I found all of these things that did not contribute to my goals. I carved out those times that I spent doing those things and said, “I can live without those. Those aren’t vital.”

I was able to find three hours in the morning, two and a half hours in the afternoon, and an hour at night. Now, where did I put those things? Well, I put the first over into “delegate to somebody else,” the next one over into “someday, maybe,” and the last one into “someday, maybe.”

One of those was clearing email. My gosh, the amount of time I spend on that! And the return I get is nil.

When you get to making a lot of money and you calculate how much money you make per hour or minute, you understand how wasteful this is.

Earlier, I was saying that I’m busy and I don’t have time to make a whole bunch of money.

I would’ve said it that way: “I’m too busy over here doing stuff that’s worth about a nickel an hour, instead of making about $500 an hour, or $10,000 an hour.”

You have to get in your head that you have to take that time. You have to grab it and run like a thief –  grab your day and run like a thief, doing the things that your vision is asking you to do. That’s the way that you have to do it.

What do you turn that into?

Drive in Income-Producing Actions

The desired state is running away from the current state. The current state wants you to keep doing all of this stuff that is useless and very, very minimal.

But the desired state is trying to get you to move leads across the pipeline.

How did I do it? I took those three hours in the morning and used them to get 10 leads and three appointments. In those 2.5 hours in the afternoon I did two presentations, and in this hour at night I simplified my presentation and I sent messages to prospects to set up the next day.

Do you get the difference?

The same person before this presentation would say, “I don’t have time. I don’t know what to do,” or any of those excuses, but everybody could create the time if they just believed that they would get the result.

You can’t get the result if you don’t do this.

You Know You Must Grow to Get What You Want

This is the picture that I like to have people have in their heads because it’s vital.

You know that you must grow in order to get something that you don’t already have. You know that have to change actions.

The step in the middle between the current state and the desired state is the action step. The current state is the thought step. The desired state is the thought step. In between them are all the actions.

We’re trying to get the current state guy to let go of you, and the desired state guy to tug you up the hill. That’s it. That’s what we’re trying to do here.

1.   To become the desired you, remove all enemies of becoming the new you. This current identity is holding you back. It carved the space last time and set in all your policies, all your habits, all your routines.

2.   Be the desired you and drive in actions that advance you to your vision. This identity is trying to pull your body to make the change. Let it!

Just let it.

Do you understand now how to make time to achieve your vision?

That is my goal. That is my sincere goal of what I’m trying to teach people to do. I know it is the greatest excuse in the world, but that is how it’s done, and I don’t know another way, and I’ve worked with a lot of people.
