What if My Prospect is Content Where They Are?

What do you do if your prospect is not interested in increasing their income?
They tell you, “I’m happy where I’m at right now.” …Then what?
When I was in the Navy Spec Ops, that was exactly my mindset.
But eventually something changed that opened me up to other opportunities, particularly in business.
And eventually, something could change for your prospects too. Here’s how I keep the relationship open for when that magic moment occurs.
The Timing Must Be Right
For the last little while, I’ve been releasing videos that focus on different reasons that prevent a person from joining your business.
People who won’t join because they are content where they are…I know this reason quite well.
I was in the Navy Spec Ops, and I was what they call a “lifer dog.”
I was obsessed.
You couldn’t have attracted me to anything outside of what I was already doing. Navy Spec Ops was my life. It was my dream. I was just utterly obsessed.
I did have a couple of little side hustles I would do on the weekends. I would go in and repair cars in the body shop, or I would make things in the wood shop. They were more like a hobby. When I had time off, I would do those things, and then I’d sell the stuff I made at a flea market.
Other than that, nothing distracted me from my work in the Navy, ever.
Eventually that changed. Obviously it changed.
I was ready.
What Opened My Eyes To Creating Wealth
How did it happen?
Well, I purchased a real estate investment course. It opened my eyes to wealth creation.
At that time, you just didn’t hear this wealth conversation. Now we get hit with it all the time, but in my universe at that time, there was nothing about it.
I remember buying the course. I studied it. I transcribed every single word that the person said on all the audio tapes.
It opened my eyes, so that when Network Marketing came my way, I shifted, and put all of that focus and obsession that I had in Spec Ops, into Network Marketing.
My Best Advice When Someone Isn’t Interested
When you have someone who is not interested, the best advice I can give you is just stay in gentle communication with them.
Don’t be rude.
Don’t cut them down because they’re really focused on something else.
Praise that.
I praise that in them, because not only do I not like to change someone’s course if they’re really happy and doing what they want to do, but also because I want to be right near them when they have that thing that occurs in their life – that moment – when the timing IS right to do something different.
What To Watch For
I watched a real estate infomercial on television and I remember thinking, “Wow, I could be accumulating real estate in each state that I moved to in the military.”
That opened my eyes.
When I saw Network Marketing, I thought, “I could do that anywhere.”
In the Navy, you have shore duty and then you have ship duty. I had just come off of ship duty and was on shore duty for about two years, and within those two years, I got to $65,000 a month from my Network Marketing business.
Then I thought, “You know what? I think I’m good. I have the experience now. It’s time. I want to create a family and I want to continue to pursue this.”
That was just that inkling.
What I’m trying to show you and dial in on, is that there is a time when a very focused person shifts. Something occurs in their life; it can be a lot of different things that creates that shift.
My main message to you is befriend these people. Be good to them. Don’t blow it. Don’t say something rude like, “You’re in the J.O.B… Journey of the broke. Hahaha.”
Don’t ever communicate like that.
Praise the person for what they’re doing. Hang around. When they find it, when it hits them, you want to be there.
This Opens Doors For Me
I like to educate. I show the Pipeline all the time.
- Generate a lead
- Contact the lead
- Set an appointment
- Do a presentation
- Follow up
- Get a customer
This applies to so many things; not just Network Marketing. If the person wants a girlfriend, I can show them the Pipeline. If the person wants to get votes, I can show them the Pipeline. If the person wants to get customers into their restaurant, I can show them the Pipeline.
I talk about it all the time, even with the dentist. I’ll talk about it to everybody. It is just a very benign introduction to the conversation.
Real Estate vs Network Marketing is a really good video to show people in general and say, “Wow, this shocked me. I never realized this!”
Be Their Friend
I’m just giving you the clues here with how to work with somebody who’s completely focused. They have no interest in a Network Marketing business whatsoever.
Good.
Stay in communication with them. Don’t bring it up. Gently serve a little bit of communication so that when the timing is right, maybe they join.
Maybe they don’t.
Be their friend anyway.
P.S. If you don’t have a team, haven’t recruited anyone (or less than 10 people), this is THE course you should get – Network Marketing Training Course
